Project Centered Curriculum (PCC)

PCC is exemplary to what learning by doing is, and is inspired from real world Scenarios
With a virtual corporate environment provided at MSIT, students work in teams on their projects related to their courses offered. Project centric curriculum offers practical hands on experience to muster the implementation aspects of the concepts related to each course. Each course is broken into manageable modules each of which is offered as a project to be worked on. The students understand the concept while working on the project and submit the relevant tasks (deliverables) within the deadline specified by their mentors. The students get the required guidance and support at every level from the mentors who have a wide knowledge base helpful for the growth of students. Every core concept is taught with the backbone support of a practical application hence cementing the gap between mere theory and subjective application, turning them into industry ready professionals.

For example, if a student is being offered a course on data structures, he would be asked to work on a project like ‘Mini Google search engine’ which would enable them to understand the various algorithms involved and assimilate the underlying concepts to develop this project. For the Networks course they need to come up with a file protocol and similarly for databases course ‘Airline reservation system’. For the web programming course it’s an interactive web game on Snakes and ladders which is offered to learn the intricacies. Each of these courses are designed and offered by Principal mentors trained in CMU. Rich digital content as well as books are provided to augment the students learning.

Personalized mentoring and offering courses in a project centric way through learning by doing methodology stands out to be secret of success of MSIT. Alongside this, concept tests are designed in a way that would help in building up the foundations of each course offered. Programming contests and quizzes are also held in order to enhance programming skills and foster a spirit of healthy competition. Intensive soft skills training which concentrates on improving communication and people skills helps students transform into corporate professionals.

Picking up hands on experience on projects along their way, constantly conditioning themselves to deadline pressures, quickly putting newly gained skills into action, students at MSIT look beyond traditional models; looking instead to non-traditional, path-breaking solutions.
